In November 2016, Udaan first raised $10 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners in a series A funding round. Udaanīengaluru-based online B2B marketplace Udaan was founded by three former Flipkart executives Sujeet Kumar, Vaibhav Gupta, and Amod Malviya in 2016. It provides a network-centric B2B trade platform connecting small and medium businesses, manufacturers, traders, wholesalers and retailers.Įarlier this month, Udaan raised ₹1,590 crores from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and DST Global, propelling it to the unicorn club. It provides an online learning platform for K4 to K12 students, using engaging video lessons and study materials provided by experienced educators. Byju’sīengaluru-based edtech startup Byju’s was founded by Byju Raveendran in 2008. The venture capital fund first invested in OYO in February 2014. Lightspeed has been with OYO since the very beginning of the hospitality startups journey. Recently, OYO raised ₹7,285 crores led by Softbank, along with participation from other investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, propelling it to the elite unicorn club, with a valuation of $5 billion. In the last five years, OYO has grown to become India’s leading budget hotel provider and has also forayed into the international markets, further strengthening its global presence. Indian hotel chain OYO was founded by Ritesh Agarwal in 2013, with its headquarter in Gurugram.
